The McCall School Video Club was started in February of 2006 by McCall School Art teacher and WinCAM Producer Terry Lannon.  Working in cooperation with WinCAM the club introduces interested students to the world of video production.  The participants produce projects that cover a wide range of video disciplines and interests.  An open screening is scheduled as part of the Winchester Public School's Art display at Winchester Town Hall during Town Day.

The club meets every Wednesday afternoon during the school year from 2:30-4pm in Mr. Lannon's art room at McCall Middle School or at the WinCAM studios as the projects dictate.

Projects

Still Shots

Commercials

Using only still images or objects and no spoken or written word the producer must tell a story.  This project introduces and emphasizes camera technique and gets the producer to think in terms of the visual aspect of video.

This project introduces the students to basic media literacy concepts and gets them thinking about how the commercials they see everyday on network television work.  Working in production teams they must develop a "product" then produce a 30 second commercial to sell this product.

McCall News

Music Interpretation

This project introduces the students to news production.  Each production team write and shoot a news story about an event at McCall, with approval, made up stories are allowed as well.  One session is spent shooting the news stories while another is spent at WinCAM studios shooting the in studio segments, including sports and weather.

Animation

For the final project of the semester, the producers have their choice of projects.  These projects are designed to allow the producers maximum creative freedom. The first choice is the music interpretation...The producers are given a piece of music with the lyrics written out and must shoot video to visually tell the story (if interested the producers may elect a more challenging project and be given an instrumental piece of music).

The second choice allows producers to try their hand at animation.  Not computer animation but good old stop motion animation
